Lynn Phillips-Gaines

When Lynn joined the financial services industry in 1982, she quickly recognized that the best way to help clients was to serve them with the objectivity and freedom that comes with independence. By 1984, she had opened her own independent practice, which has lasted for nearly 40 years and manages over $200 million in assets for its clients (as of December 2019). Today, Lynn believes her major achievements still lie ahead.

A graduate of Mississippi State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree, Lynn received a master’s from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Her commitment to education has grown along with her career, and she holds several professional certifications, including CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner (1987), and is certified in Long Term Care (2006). She has also earned the Investment Management Consultant designation, which signifies her competence in investment management theory and consulting practices through Raymond James Institute of Investment Management Consulting.

Lynn was ordained to the diaconate within the Episcopal Church in January 2011 and was certified in March of 2011 as a trainer for Bridges Out of Poverty. With this under her belt, she has organized the Bridges out of Poverty initiative for Starkville, resulting in 5 classes of “Getting Ahead in a Just Getting By World,” having graduated since October 2011.

*The Forbes ranking of Best-In-State Wealth Advisors, developed by SHOOK Research, is based on an algorithm of qualitative criteria, mostly gained through telephone and in-person due diligence interviews and quantitative data. Those advisors that are considered have a minimum of seven years of experience, and the algorithm weights factors like revenue trends, assets under management, compliance records, industry experience and those that encompass best practices in their practices and approach to working with clients. Portfolio performance is not a criterion due to varying client objectives and a lack of audited data. Out of approximately 32,725 nominations, more than 5,000 advisors received the award. This ranking is not indicative of an advisor’s future performance, is not an endorsement, and may not be representative of individual clients’ experience. The rankings are based on data provided by over 5,000 individual advisors and their firms and include qualitative and quantitative criteria. Factors included in the rankings: assets under management, revenue produced for the firm, regulatory record, quality of practice, and philanthropic work. The ranking may not be representative of any one client’s experience, is not an endorsement, and is not indicative of the advisor’s future performance.
